We like to share our musical discoveries with other people and so give occasional public performances. Here are some some events involving members of The Musick Cabinet and associated groups over the next few months:

Music from Tudor Times

Entry by programme. Cost TBA (approx £5)

 

The Canterbury Waits present an concert of sixteenth century music played on shawms, crumhorns, sackbutt, curtal, flutes, viol, recorders, cornet and kortholt. music will include works by Holborne, Henry the Eighth, Isaac, Susato and the inevitable, prolific anon.

 

 


Saturday April 24th 2010 mid day. 

Horley St George's Day Celebration

 

High Street, Horley, Surrey. Near Gatwick.

 

The Canterbury Waits are participationg in Horley Chamber of Commerce's outdoor St Georg'es Day celebration . The whole event spans form 10.00 am to 6.00 pm, with The Canterbury Waits playing shawms, sackbut & curtal around midday. We will feature Richard Bethell on great bass shawm. Music will include dances by Susato.

Bradbourne House Open Day with The Breittreppe Serenaders

 

East Malling Trust for Horticultural Research, Bradbourne House,

New Road, East Malling, Kent ME19 1DZ

 

This is this annual open day of Bradbourne House, an eighteenth century grade 1listed building, set in 20 acres of parkland, including the Hatton Gardens which display different ways of training apple trees, and incorporates a collection of old apple varieties. In one of Bradbourne House's oak panelled rooms The Musick Cabinet's flute and bassoon trio, The Breittreppe Serenaders, play music by Haydn, Mozart, Devienne, and Hoffmeister plus some eighteenth century English marches.

"Mediaeval to Mozart"
 
The Musick Cabinet play music from several centuries on a range of historic wind instruments.
This is part of the regular series of Summer music lunchtime recitals organised by the Maidstone United Reform Church. This will be their 23rd season!  All welcome.
There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Heart of Kent Hospice or similar charity to be confirmed.

Early Music Afternoon including The Canterbury Waits

Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Singleton, Chichester, Sussex PO18 0EU

 

A range of early music groups associated with the southern Early Music Forum play in the collection of reconstructed vernacular mediaeval houses.

Tickets avaiulable at the door include entrance to all historic buildings and the performances.

Lecture/demonstration recital by Carl Willetts
