Coffee Morning recital by the Musick Cabinet

This is the first of the 2012 series of coffee morning concerts organised by Broadstairs Menthodist Church. The church is open to serve coffee from 10.30 am every Saturday and music will be offered from 11.30 to 12.30 on the first Saturday of each month Febreuary to July. Entry is free with a retiring collection in aid of a church charity.
This morning The Musick Cabinet presents trios of two baroque flutes and bassoon including Deveinne, Hoffmeister, Handel, some anonymous English militia marches and music written by Dibdin to accompany Shakespeare plays in Garrick's time.

This morning Derek Poole and Carl Willetts give a varied programme including music from eighteenth century London coffee houses for recorder & guitar, Scots and Irish tunes by Burk Thumoth (who??) plus mediaeval dance tunes.

Michael Alexander, an organist well known in the Maidstone area, will play a voluntary by the blind Englishman John Stanley. He will be joined for some baroque music for flute(s) and organ and ending with popular classics for flute and piano.

Incorporated Society of Musicians Recital by Norfolk Composers Group
Octagon Unitarian Chapel, Colegate, Norwich NR3 1BN
A lunchtime recital of new music composed by members of the Norfolk Composers Group. It will include a performance of Pat Hanchet's Refracting Waters ( Three aquarelles) for flute and alto flute. This piece was commisioned in 2011 for members of the Musick Cabinet.
