Origo plays early and traditional music from England and around Europe. The band comprises three very talented musicians from three very different musical backgrounds: trad folk, early and classical.

Gordon A Jackson Vocals, Octave Mandola, Mandolin, Low Whistles

Sarah Stringer Violin, Keyboards, Vocals

Carl Willetts Recorders, Flutes, Crumhorns, Cornemuse and other early woodwind

Original band member and founder Gordon A Jackson, a Londoner, has his roots firmly in the traditional music of England, Ireland and Scotland. However his musical tastes cover a wide range. Gordon plays mandolin, octave mandola, mandocello, bouzouki, cuatro de Puerto Rico, low whistle and djembe. He also sings. Gordon started with the mandolin at 15.

Although her first instrument was the piano, when Sarah started the violin her passion for it completely took over. Sarah's background is largely in classical music, and she has performed professionally in chamber ensembles and orchestras, and also works as a music teacher. Sarah also loves other styles of music including salsa, folk, rock, and jazz/blues.
